How those goals coming?

Hello internet friends (and some actual live friends as well)

How are those goals coming you ask, well very good!!! Despite the fact that I blinked and January was over...then I blinked again and it's the second week in February!

But I'm happy to report that we have been keeping our momentum for change this year!

Budget-We've been doing pretty good. not as good as I would like, but this is a process. a marathon. a journey...you get the idea. We continue to reign in our spending and use more of what we have.

Patience-I'm very proud of myself. I've really been keeping my cool. Not to say I haven't lost my sh** in the last 6 weeks, but not nearly as often and I'm much quicker to cool down. I've really noticed a change in the kids. They calm down faster and are more cooperative when I'm calm (duh)

Spend more time with hubby-This has been great! Even though it isn't so great for our budget....budgeting time and money for ourselves is a MUST. The time away each week has been so valuable and I really really like my hubby. sometimes it's dinner and trip around the bookstore, sometimes a movie-we are crazy!

spend more time with me- This also has been going really well. I've managed to do a yoga class once a week. I've fallen in love with it and just love that time. The great support from Jeff is what really makes this possible....with out his commitment to this I couldn't do it.

Simplify-We started out strong on this one, but as life has gotten busy, I've gotten lazy. buying lunches more often (bad for budget) buying snacks (bad for waistline) But like everything this too can and will improve.

I will keep you all updated (cause I know you're on the edge of your seats) and we have some fun mini adventures coming up so stay tuned.

Happy New Year!! 2012 wow!

Since it's been a while since my last update...here are some exciting things from December.

First bit of excitement was Kitties. We finally got kitties!!! After a lot of begging and a hefty deposit I convinced the landlord to let us have kitties. Lilly has not put them down since we got them.

The next exciting thing was SANTA. He came and was very good to us. Kids had a blast and made out like bandits....I guess they were very good in 2011.

Looking ahead to the coming year I'm so excited for all that lay ahead. I think this year holds really great things for our family and our future. Here some of my goals for 2012...I'm ambitious what can I say.

1. Stick to our budget- This is a biggie! I usually have a budget, but somehow something comes up and I go over. This year I'm vowing to stick to my budget! We have some big financial goals in 2012 so this is a MUST. A couple ways I plan to do this is...write out my budget monthly, plan for birthdays/gifts/travel well in advance, eat at home 6 nights a week, Target trips once a Quarter...this one will be hard. Reaching our financial goals will not only feel GREAT, but we want to instill sound money principals to our kids.

2. Be more patient- I have a full time job, a husband and two young kids...patience is hard to find sometimes. Yet from my experience the calmer I am the calmer the kids are. 6 days in I'm doing good :) Let's talk again in February, HA

3. Spend more time with my hubby- I like him, but as a working family....time is limited. But this year I want to spend some quality time each week with my husband. Not as a mommy/daddy, but as husband/wife. Dinner, Movie...something that gets us out being adults.

4. Spend more time with myself- I like me too. And I think I'm a better mommy/wife when I feel balanced and centered. So my goal is to do Yoga 1x a week and find time to visit with friends at least 1x a month-so call me!

5. Simplify- Simple eating/simple living. I think this will help a lot with #4. I go crazy when there is too much stuff everywhere. And we have a lot of stuff. simplifying is important. Also eating clean, healthy food is a very big goal of mine this year. cutting out processed food is only going to help me feel better and help teach my kids about treating their bodies right. Living simply is a little harder, but less trips to Target will help.

As the kids get bigger and their activities get more and more setting goals is important. Self discipline is not really my thing, but writing it down helps as does putting it out in the world for all one of you to see.

One good thing....30 day challenge

Every now and again I get in a funk. I'm all moody and icky. I hate getting like that. Last year I was in a pretty long funk, just really couldn't find focus, felt overwhelmed all the time. As Jeff and I were talking about how to help me find balance and center....I came up with an idea (sometimes I have a good one)....I would buy a journal dedicated to good things. I've always wanted to be a journal everyday kind of person, but never really do unless I'm in a really dark place or just can't figure out my emotions on my own. This works for when I need an outlet, but what about everyday things....what about the awesome things that are all around me. So I decided to get a journal and everyday write one good thing that happened. Most days it was easy, some days it was...."I took a shower" but overall I felt this really helped me. It put my day into perspective and helped me end my day on a good note. It also really helped me during the day....I was constantly looking for what I would journal about and found many many things thru out the day.

Now I'm not in a particularly emotional place, I feel very satisfied and joyful....but as the holidays come and my job starts to pick up in responsibility I feel like I need to challenge myself. So for the next 30 days I will be writing everyday. I will write about the good things that happened (and hopefully not have to go over to my "darker" journal.)

Cooking

Someday I hope to have more tabs...and have a full cooking one. Until then this will have to do. I LOVE cooking with my girl. She is a very patient helper and loves to cook. She likes to look thru cookbooks and pick new things to eat. This has helped with her picky pallet. The great part about all this is that she will only get better with age, she will get easier to work with and be able to do most by herself. Soon I wont have to do anything but sit on the couch and eat.

This weekend we made Beignets...Which are basically doughnuts. Our viewing of "Princess and the Frog" brought on the looking thru of the cookbook she got a couple years ago. Iit was super fun to watch her with the sticky dough, I love the textileness (yes I made that word up) of food. I'm just getting back into blogging so I didn't photograph as much as I should have, but enjoy the two I have. Both kids had fun putting the powdered sugar on and then licking their sugar fingers-and who am I kidding...I did too.

Thoughts on Soccer

This was our first year doing soccer. At first I was so excited. Lilly looked so awesome in her uniform and hopefully this was going to help her coordination-she's not super athletic. Instead of posting each week, or at the beginning/end I waited till I could get a full scope of my feelings for the program.

Like I said, I was super excited to start. Lilly seemed thrilled. Our first practice/meet and greet went really well. The first game was good....I did notice that some of the parents were REALLY into this....like, super into it. I was just there to have fun. Also not many of the parents were overly friendly, not rude just not what I expected.

There was also the Charlie factor. The game lasted an hour..that is a long time to ask a 2 year old to sit and watch kids run around, and oh yeah, you can't run out there with them. So I spent a lot of my time walking him around, playing soccer with him and getting water from the fountain, which meant that I couldn't watch the game.

As the weeks went by, with only a few days notice of the time, I became more and more frustrated with the mid-day time slot and little notice...this made planning things hard.

With all of this.... our huge learning curve and complete lack of knowledge of how the AYSO works I would have to say....with only one game left....I'm gonna miss soccer-shocker I know. I LOVED watching my girl run out there, giving it her all. I loved pushing her to do something she wasn't always the most excited to do. I loved her learning about disappointment and team work and friendship. I loved that my grandma and aunt made it to many many games and were as excited to see her as I was. I loved seeing Charlie cheer his sissy on and run thru the parent made tunnel. I didn't come out of this season with any lifelong friends, or ultimate love for soccer...but I did come away with more flexibility and dare I say I'm looking forward to next season. Because if there is one thing I've learned...being a parent means doing a lot of things you don't want to do so your kids can have fun.

Halloween 2011

It was Halloween yesterday. I went into the night expecting lots of whining, fighting and crying. I expected over tired, "one more house" and NO's. But what I got was nothing I ever imagined (not to be over-dramatic)...let me explain.

It was a pretty organized night. kids watched "The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" while I made dinner. Then it was costume time. Now since we picked him up Charlie was very anti-costume, in fact we had only tried on the costume once before. I figured I would have to carry the kid and try to convince people he had a costume on. But the promise of candy is a powerful thing...he happily put the costume on and was ready to get some candy!!!

The part that really knocked my socks off was Lilly. She continues to impress me with her patience and kindness. She was so great with Charlie, she waited for him, reminded him to say thank you and let everyone know that this was her little brother and he was Mickey Mouse.

Someday he will realize what a wonderful big sister he has. Someday he will cherish her as much as she does him.

But for me, for us we will not forget this Halloween. Where we watched our kids be loving and kind and sweet with each other. Today I am thankful for the kind sweet heart my girl has. And with each passing day as she grows bigger and more mature, her heart and sweetness grows with her.

We are BACK BABY!

After over a year away I've decided to start blogging again. We have lots going on and Facebook can't take the place of this online journal. I wont even try to update on the last year (I can barley remember what happened this morning) But we have had an eventful summer so I'll start there!

June-

We celebrated Charlie's 2nd birthday. Oh my goodness. Charlie is just the sweetest little boy. He LOVES his sister and wants to do whatever she does. Luckily she is very accommodating. He started preschool and is doing so well. He loves being around big kids and has so many words. He is a very active little man, running, jumping and dancing all around. He has some great moves!!!

June also marked Lilly's first long stretch away from us. She spent a week with her cousins at their summer church camp called Breakaway! She had such a great time!!!! She was a wonderful girl and made lifelong memories....I think this will become an annual thing! We also got to enjoy our little guy alone. But our house was very lonely with our our Lilly Pie and I was MORE than ready for her to come home.

July-

July was a busy one! Jeff and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary! I do love that man. Lilly had the honor of being the flower girl in my cousin Seth's wedding. It was beautiful and magical and we were so happy to be a part of it. We also celebrated Lillians 5th birthday! Since the wedding fell near her birthday we made a big trip out of it. Driving up to humboldt and spending some great time with Papa and grandma! We went to the beach and the park and just enjoyed our family. As a grand finale birthday celebration we went to SF for the day. What a wonderful day. We went to the warf, went on a boat, went to crissy field and finished the day at Bucca De Bippo with Nana, Aunt Angie, Abby, Auntie Mel, Uncle Gary, Sean and Maddi. We had such a great time!

August-

August is also a big month. Lillian started Kindergarten on the 15th! I only cried a little. She is so smart and LOVES school. We have met a few of the other families and are enjoying connecting in Burbank some more. She also started Soccer (it was a BIG week) it was a great first game and I think we are going to enjoy it. I'm officially a Soccer mom!!! I think a sticker for my mini van is in order. I'm really embracing this "suburban" life.

The rest of the year holds more fun and hopefully more travel (def more for daddy) I'm happy to be back and share our adventures with you!

I was up last night thinking about the days leading up to Lilly's birth...and also the day she was born. I was reliving every moment....trying to remember each feeling. I hope I can remember this well when she is 24. Lilly is very excited to be 4~ "mommy I'm 4 now, I can scissors"

I can't say enough about how wonderful Lilly is. She is so kind and generous. Always willing to share with her brother (who she LOVES) or friends. She is quick to cuddle and kiss and hug. She is easy to laugh and is just a joy. I think this is going to be a really good year for us. Lots of fun things planned and she is so eager to grow up. I on the other hand am not so eager, but am truly enjoying watching her become the wonderful sweet person she is turning out to be. We are so blessed each day she is with us. we have been very busy bees. C is up and walking, not full time, but he can get around well. He's talking more and just such a joy to be around. Lilly is just as sweet as can be. Loving her brother and wanting a pet so bad she can't stand it.
We are going to be heading up north to visit my dad and family. We will be enjoying nature and seeing friends. We will also be celebrating Gary's graduation from the Police Academy. Can't wait for that, so proud of them all! And my little baby is turning ONE! I really can't believe how fast this has gone. We have been so blessed this year by our little man. He is so joyful and sweet and loving. Enjoy some pics from the last couple months.

So having two kids and a full time job will keep you busy...very busy. We have been a pretty busy bunch lately. We have had some visitors and visited family for Easter. I read other bloggers, good bloggers who update regularly. They even have more kids...but no job I think. With Facebook I just assume nobody visits here anymore....if you do shout out cause all I hear is crickets. Anyway. We have A LOT coming up, Charlie is turning one, Humboldt Vacation and Lilly's birthday....so there will be many more updates. Below are some picture highlights from the last couple months.

Again my girl amazes me. she is so smart and knows exactly what she wants, for instance.

On our way home last night we saw a really cute puppy. She says "mom, I want a puppy" I say "maybe for your birthday you will get one, how old are you going to be" She says "4, and I want a tinkerbell birthday and a stripped kitty, with a purple leash" I say "well kitties don't like leashes and they are messy and scratch" She says "MOM, it's my job to say "STOP SCRATCHING" and he will say, Meow, i'm sorry I scratched you"

So we'll see what the summer brings, but it may bring us a puppy with a purple leash.

Boy do I love this guy. He is so amazing. Such a mellow guy. He is sweet and funny. Easy to laugh and giggle. He is absolutely in LOVE with his sister. He is working on crawling and hopefully will be getting some teeth soon. He loves to be outside and stand up. I am so looking forward to seeing more of who he will be.

Christmas 2009

We had a wonderful Christmas. Santa was very good to us. After a certain point we stopped taking pictures....so here are some of my favorites. I'm so glad Lilly loves her Kitchen. Jeff was up till 4:30 putting it together....not the first all niter we will pull on Christmas eve I'm sure. Thee Kitchen, Leapster and baby kitty (tiny stuffed one in a carrier) were among her favorites. Charlie LOVES his new talking/singing doggie. We are looking forward to a wonderful 2010! Charlie enjoyed his first Christmas. He is such a wonderful boy. He's close to crawling and hopefully will have some teeth soon....poor boy.

so Lilly has been really into telling us stories, making up songs ect... so last night in an effort to not go to sleep she told me the story of Pocahontas, this is good people.

" Once apon a time there was a prince named John Smith. He got caught by the bad guys and SQUISHED (squeezes her hands together). Then Pocahontas got SQUISHED. THEN...the aliens and Michael Jackson came and the bad guys threw them in the trash, (looks at me), "gross right". Then they threw them in again and again and again "gross right", So then John shot the bad guys (makes a gun with her fingers) PEWWW, PEWWW, PEWWW. And they all lived happily ever after"

That is the best bedtime story I've ever heard.

Lilly and I went down to one of the many events in Burbank this holiday season. On our way she was playing with words, Pirate ice cream, Pirate lollypop, Pirate window. After a couple minutes of this "game" she looks at me and says...."mom, you think my game is funny" Me: " I do" Lilly: "you think my game is crazy" Me: "Yes, I do"

She is so funny and is very into making up games and stories and songs. She LOVES to sing Christmas songs, Frosty, Santa is coming to town, We wish you a Merry Christmas....in fact she got a special hat from her teacher cause she was the only one in class that knows the song for the Christmas pageant, not only does she know their song, but all the other class songs. I guess the 40 times we sang/heard Santa Clause is coming to town really paid off.

She is such a joy to be around and the best big sister around.

We are so looking forward to this holiday. We are getting to take some time off and looking forward to being together as a family.

Well Lilly is officially a Star Wars Fan. It started with a 1/2 viewing of the movie. We didn't make it thru the whole thing cause of bedtime, but that was enough of a taste to plant the seed. Later that week we finished the movie and she is hooked.
This was all cemented when we went to Disneyland and she got to be a part of the Jedi Training show in tomorrow land. They take the kids up on stage, teach them some Jedi moves and then they fight Darth Vader. She was chosen and went up and followed all the directions (not even looking at me once) My stomach was in knots.....would she fight Darth, would she be overwhelmed.....well those of you who know her can guess that she stood there....no fear and fought Darth.....kicked his butt, pummeled him.....you get the idea. We cheered and clapped and were so proud of her. What an independent spirit she has. And although it drives me crazy, I LOVE that she can just go up in front of 150 people and kick Darth Vader's Ass with no qualms. We snapped many many pictures. They don't do it justice. Enjoy.

We had a great Halloween. For us it seemed to go on for weeks. Lilly couldn't wait to wear her costume. Last Saturday the Woods and Nana came down and we went to Disneyland to give the costumes a test run. Then on Friday her school had a "parade" I use that word very lightly as they just walked around in a circle in their small playground area to Monster Mash playing on a boom box (awesome I know). Then we went to the studio for some Disney fun.
Charlie was a trouper putting his costume on and off over the last few days (Debi made him an AMAZING beast costume, since his big sister is Belle). Along with pumpkin carving we also went trick-or-treating. Our friends the Berin's live in the most amazing neighborhood. We crash their 4th of July and Halloween activities every year. THANKS Berin's.
This year was no exception, fun, friends and lots of candy.

Pumpkin Patch 2009

We went to the pumpkin patch on Sunday. We had a great time. It was a little hot, but we got snow cones so we were ok. Our friends the Harvey's met us there. Lilly, Hannah and Kayla are the best of friends. Charlie was great as usual and loved all the hub bub.

Lilly's Nana B got her this doll. It's a beautiful porcelain doll (the Fragile baby doll). Like all good parents we let Lilly watch Thriller, cause you know it's totally appropriate. She loved it and even wanted a second viewing. I'm not sure how the doll worked it's way into being scary, but I had to take her into the living room before she would go to sleep. And because she is my dreamy daughter she dreamt about wolves coming in and hurting her foot and breaking the baby.

She is such a funny little kid. All the baby that was there is gone, POOF, it just happened overnight. She is also smart, confirmed by her teacher who told me yesterday that "she is the smartest kid in the class" She has been so well behaved and knows all the answers, to quote her, "I know that mom" Yes she does.

Our girl is a smart and funny one. She is also a very loving person. She greets Charlie everyday with a smile and profession of love "I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!" and Charlie just BEAMS. He loves her as much as she loves him. She also loves to call him "buddy" "hey my little buddy", "how you doing buddy" yep she's pretty much the cutest thing ever.

We are loving having two kids and looking forward to when they can play together. We have been very busy and are looking forward to Halloween. Lilly is going to be Belle and Charlie....The Beast, what else (still trying to figure out how to make that one, thank God for Debi)

our black-out dates were over so we headed down to Disney. We got to go on a weekday, since it was my last week of leave. We had a great time! It was HOT, but our friends the Harvey's were there so that made it better. Lilly and the Harvey girls (Kayla and Hannah) are best friends. Lilly chose for her treat a Goofy hat, she is a strange one. Charlie loved his first trip. Lilly rode the matterhorn, watched fantasia and stayed for the Fireworks (this is a big one folks).

We've been going 1000 miles an hour. I'm going to try to blog more. There are a bunch of pictures from the last few weeks. We've gone to the beach, to Sacramento (had another b-day party for Lilly) and been trying to get ready to go back to work.
the countdown has begun 10 more days. I'm excited, but also sad. Charlie is so easy. He's always smiling and talking. I've included a video which doesn't do him justice-he's a gabber.

Lilly has really been playing a lot. Her imagination is booming. She loves to play babies and mommy she is always the mommy and wears her princess dress up shoes, cause you know, these are mommy shoes. doctor is another favorite.
While we were hanging today she come kicking at me...I laugh, cause it's funny and she says " don't laugh at me, it's not silly" I said, "it's not?" She said "no, it's robot kicks"
Well there you go.

Charlie doesn't do robot kicks yet, but he is a very smiley happy boy. And he slept for 8 hours last night...so I'm a smiley happy mommy.

where did 3 years go? we enjoyed a wonderful party with a select group of friends of Lilly's. Lilly is such a wonderful girl. It was fun to watch her play and interact with her friends, she is quite the leader.
We are so lucky to have a confident, funny, generous person with us each day. Each day she surprises us. Always ready with a kiss and hug. She is smart and so beautiful. I can't wait to see what the next year holds and beyond.

Well life is busy with 2 kids. Things have been going really well. Charlie is growing like crazy. He has started laughing and smiling. I love watching him change and grow. we have had a great bunch of visitors that have been more than helpful. Lilly Loves to kiss and hug her brother. Being a big sister comes very naturally to her.
Jeff is doing great at work. He is off this week to Canada to work on the Tron shoot. He is very excited. I will miss him and those extra set of hands in the evenings.

Lilly Loves Books - "Say Please"

We must have been going for a theme, because week two of Lilly Loves Books is "Say Please" and was from the same batch we checked out as "Mind Your Manners B.B. Wolf".

In "Say Please" a series of animals all make request of a small boy by adding their own animal call to the word "please". Kind of an Old Macdonald with need animals that happen to be polite.

(Again I use my weird voice I reserve for my daughter...must attempt to demolish strange kiddy dialect in the future)

It's true, Lilly does love books. So, I thought it might be fun to try and capture a few words from Lilly on what she thought of each book as we return them to the library. My hope is to toss one of these Lilly reviews up a week....we shall see.

To start us off we have a really fun book called "Mind Your Manners, B.B. Wolf" by Judy Sierra (Author) and J. Otto Seibold (Illustrator).

P.S. - Apologies for the terrible man voice, it's mine, and I can hardly stand the sound of it. Ugh, perhaps I should hire a professional VO Artist to ask her the questions.

Charlie will be a week old tomorrow. It's hard to believe. I'm doing well, getting around good and enjoying this new little man. We are all totally in love. Lilly loves to hold and kiss him. Whenever he cries promptly tells me to "feed him mom" She's a great big sister.

I thought I would update before the little man arrives. We are 7 days away from the big day. I've been feeling good, but obviously have slowed down. Friday is my last day at work and I'm ready for a few days off before life gets crazy. I had a dr. appt on Tuesday and she is predicting Charlie to be around 8lbs. I'm hoping for more like 7, but we'll see. The house is all ready (Thanks Woods Family for all your help) and we are now just waiting.

Lilly is doing so well. I'm hoping to post some pictures of our trip to the beach a couple weeks ago. She LOVED the water and splashed and played for a long time. She seems to feel the excitement and we are trying to prepare her as much as we can. She has moved up to the 3 year old room and is doing fantastic. She has been bored in the 2's for a while. She is very sweet, funny and thoughtful. Always sharing. She is very good with her "baby doll Charlie" so that gives me hope.

Jeff is doing so well at work. He's been working on "The Proposal" and a few other exciting projects. We are so blessed to have the great teams we work with. He will get to spend a few weeks with Charlie and me which will be so great!

I have a great group of people I work with and they are truly excited about Charlie's arrival. They threw me the best baby shower and spoiled us. I'm going to be off for 3 months and looking forward to getting to know our new little person.

Staycation

Jeff, Lilly and I had a little stay-cation this weekend. It was our last hurrah before Charlie comes. We went to Disneyland and got a hotel, played in the pool. We had a wonderful time! Lilly was amazing and we enjoyed our time with our girl. She is turning into such a cool person. She was fearless and had some awesome firsts. First Mickey picture, first tea cup ride, first Mickey Sucker!
We are about 4 weeks away from meeting Mr. Charlie and can't wait. But knew how important our time with our girl was.

Mark your calendars, Charlie will be her on June 4th. Jeff and I will check into the hospital at 5am, YIKES and should see Charlie around 8:30am! 8 more weeks and I'm feeling less than prepared. We are going to have to do some major hunkering to get things ready for him.

He is still so very active despite his lack of room. rolling and moving all around.

Lilly is doing great, sleeping well in her Big Girl Bed and has been playing with her baby doll "baby Charlie" a lot more.

We are all headed to Sacramento for Easter and can't wait to see the family.

Yep, we've got a Charlie coming. We are so excited. Lilly has grown more attached to him since we've given him a name. I hope to get some pictures this weekend. I can't imagine how busy it will get when he actually comes out.

We've officially started the process of getting things ready. Lilly still LOVES her big girl bed and is making HUGE strides in the potty training area. My energy level is down because I'm as big as a house, but things are starting to come together.

We got to spend some time with Papa Mike-he was down helping Grandma with her new yard and Lilly loved digging in the rocks with him and planting flowers.

Overall things are great, very busy but looking forward to meeting our little man and getting into a new groove.

BIG GIRL BED

Yes it has happened, Lilly is now asleep in her big girl bed. Jeff spent the whole weekend sanding, striping, and painting Lilly's big girl bed. Lilly and I were out in about all weekend so he could work. Considering all the hub-bub Lilly did fantastic. Then tonight after some finishing touches Lilly went down-with out any fuss at all, but not without some tears from mom....this was a BIG moment. We are hoping she will do well tonight, but we think she will, because as I kissed her goodnight she whispered "Mom, I like my big girl bed".

They say the second child get's less, less pictures, attention, worry. I didn't want to believe that, but this first baby post-20 weeks in is evidence in itself.

I'm now 20 weeks, half way there. Below is the first belly shot (with Lilly in my belly). I put it up a comparison shot as I am much bigger this time. Over all things have been going well. I am far more tired, but running after Lilly will do that to you. Other than the normal pregnancy heartburn I feel great. I've been feeling the baby move around and think we are really close to having jeff and Lilly feel.

We will find out on Wednesday (pending cooperation) what we are having. We've been trying to get things ready for the new addition. This involves preparing Lilly more than ourselves, since the newborns don't need much more than some onsies and a place to sleep.

I did register at Babies R Us for some things we will need, not much but a few things.

I hope to do some more blogging about this baby, but really a pregnant belly can't compete with Lilly, who pooped in the potty by the way. BIG deal-more for us than her.

Well we had a wonderful Christmas time! We got to have an early Christmas with Grandma and Aunt Cindy, then off to Sacramento with the Redmond/Woods clan. Santa was good to us and to Lilly. I've also included a couple of her first Christmas program. She was great up there singing Jingle Bells, but her friend Eva jumped in front of her the whole time.....ah first of many I'm sure.
We are looking forward to an exciting new year with lots to do to get ready for the new baby. I will post pictures of the kid once we get a good ultrasound on Jan 21....hopefully he/she will cooperate so we can start the name game

It's been a while since I've been able to post a moment. She's had lots of them, but here are a few of my favorites.

Lilly informed me that- "I do not like Santa"

While listening to Santa Baby this morning with Daddy, when the line about him coming down the chimney she laughs and says " that's not safe"

She rides her wooden rocking horse with her santa hat on saying "YO HO HO, Merry Christmas" in her lowest, Santa like voice" Santa is apparently a Pirate-we don't correct her.

We are prepared for a very Merry Christmas and hope you all have one as well.

Well we've all been sick the last week with a terrible cold. So the fact that we had nothing planned for the weekend was welcome news. We took it easy and stayed local. We went and had Yummy bagels on Sat and went to one of Lilly's favorite places Starbucks on Sunday, yes she is my daughter. I think we are all on the mend and are ready for our trip to Disneyland this coming weekend. Check back for pictures.

Lilly and I had a girls night because daddy was at the High School Musical 3 Premiere, Yep I was jealous. At one point she was wandering around and made her way into our bathroom. I quickly got her out and shut the door.....what I didn't know is that she had locked the door. As I went to brush my teeth for bed I realized that the door was locked. Too tired to care I went to bed.

So this morning I got us and started to take off the door handle. Little miss curious was right there. "Let me see it" She then took the screw driver and started poking around the door hole, "'I'm working" she says.

All I can say is not a day goes by that I'm not happy we have two bathrooms.

Lombardi Ranch in the Santa Clarita Valley was re-opened this year after suffering damage from the wildfires last year. We were so excited to go back. We had a great day with Grandma and Aunt Cindy. There was lot's of pumpkins, pony rides and of course....CORN! YUM.

It's been a while since I updated everyone on Lilly's cuteness. She has really been changing lately. Listening really well and growing into such a sweet girl.

She loves to come into bed with us in the morning and cuddle, she loves to take care of her many animal friends and recently enjoyed some gardening.

She Loves Halloween. She loves to cackle like a witch and boooo like a ghost. Everytime we see some Halloween things she says, "halloween, mommy, halloween" On a recent trip to the book store she chose a black kitty with orange ears and whiskers. When asked what it's name was she said, "ummm, Halloween kitty" Not the most original, but still pretty darn cute.

Along with Halloween she likes to be Naked. As evident in the naked beach pictures. Last night she got out of the bath (yes she can do that now) and says, "hey guys, I'm naked"

We are loving this person she is becoming. We love every second with her. It's going way too fast.

We got to spend the day in Monterey with our good friends the Spangler's. We miss them and had a great time. We got to go to the beach and play in the water. Lilly loved having the waves chase her! "ocean get me" She also loved the Sea Lions, "Big Sea Lions"

Needless to say it was much too short a trip, but we plan to go again soon.

Jeff called me this morning to inform me that even though it was pizza and ice cream day at school, Lilly had to have her Lunchbox.

Then when he got to school the teacher informed him that she is not only the youngest student, but also the smartest kid in class. We knew she was brilliant, it's just nice to have it confirmed by a professional :) HAHA

We are so happy she likes her school. She gets to do things like play in the pool, feed goats, ride ponies and have pizza and ice cream every Friday! She apparently does not like the PB&J I've been making (hey, nobody's perfect) so now I have to come up with some creative lunches...as Cheese sandwich everyday can't be good for you.

So along with my personal journal I thought I'd begin to share little pieces of our day with Lilly. She is constantly saying and doing things that are share worthy. It is amazing watching her grow and interact with other kids. I spent some time this morning watching her play. She is so independent, which I love, I never was and she is at ease with everyone. Everyday when i pick her up at least three kids come to hug her and say goodbye. I will try to post pictures too, but mostly this will be our little moments with the girl......she was so cute this morning after kissing me goodbye she just walked out on the playground....was looking around, found her activity and ran off to play.

I got that feeling you would get when you were looking for friends, all nervous (she wasn't) it just brought me back.

Once again The Family Redmond ventured to Studio City for the most patriotic of holidays, Arbor Day! ...wait...I mean...Independence Day (aka fourth of July or Sky Go Boom Day)! They have a really great holiday event in Studio City that feels very small town. One of the neighborhoods closes down the streets to traffic for a parade that's lead by two Fire Trucks and followed by a large progression of family's from the neighborhood.

The kids ride bikes decorated in red, white and blue, and new parents push patriotic strollers. A few of the neighbors stay home, so the kids in the parade have someone to wave at as they progress through the neighborhood.

Lilly LOVED the Fire Truck almost as much as she loved the snow cones (see below).

We have been a very busy family. We spent Fathers day weekend in Sacramento with the Redmonds/Woods. we had so much fun visiting with cousins and family. Lilly is quite the little swimmer now. She loved the water.
On the home front things are going well. Jeff is doing so well at work and is such a great dad, loving on our little girl.
I had an exciting couple of weeks. I was offered a job at Disney and will start on July 7th. I'll be working for the marketing department for the Disney Channel. I'm so excited. Lilly will be starting Montessori School so there are lots of exciting changes coming. This will be such a good thing for our family. 3 hours a day in the car is too much!
Lilly is almost two and such a joy. She talks all the time! She loves to play with her animals and barn. She is curious and a very good girl. I can't believe she is almost 2. We are so lucky to have such a great daughter and are loving every second of watching her grow.

Learning to Swim - Part 1

Yesterday was our first day of swim lessons at the Rosebowl Aquatic Center in Pasadena. Lillian was a real champ, a few nervous tears were shed when we first got in, but once she had a ducky in her hand she was ready to go!

Before I knew it Lilly was kicking in the water, holding the side of the pool with both hands, and enjoying an adrenaline effused giggle at the end of the motor boat song (sing it with me, "Motorboat, motorboat go so slow. Motorboat, motorboat go so fast. Motorboat, motorboat STEP ON THE GAS!!!").

Lilly was surrounded by love this weekend! First we drove down to Canyon Lake and spent Saturday with Grandma Rhonda and Aunt Cindy...

...then the fun continued with a visit from Papa and Nana Redmond!

We love you all very much and really appreciate the smiles you put on our little girl's face!
